That thing’s a brute. I find the interwar period of aviation fascinating. So many different ideas, but not quite up to the monocoque monoplane.Look at this beauty. It’s a Curtiss YP-23, and you can see the future right there. Just take off the top wing.

That looks far more modern than the P-26 . The interwar period truly is fascinating . So much new technology that nobody really knew what to do with yet. I used to love reading about various countries struggles with mechanization during the interwar period.
